Even the youngest join in the Palm Sunday Procession. As part of our welcome to non-Christians and others unfamiliar with “churchy” language, we have added explanations and definitions for words shown in green type. Follow this link for additional information.
Founded in 1900 by German immigrants, the Lutheran Church of Honolulu (LCH) has evolved into a diverse, progressive congregation. We strive to live out the inclusive love of God at home, in the local community, and across the globe. Jesus Christ’s message is proclaimed each week through messages based on the good news found in the Bible as well as in the sacrament of holy communion. Our worship blends the beauty and mystery of traditional Christian liturgy with music, drama, and the visual arts to communicate God’s liberating, unselfish love. Our service ministries reach far beyond the church walls. Through social and pastoral care ministries, we care for our church family and serve the homeless, the home bound, and those living with HIV/AIDS. As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we work organizations like with Lutheran World Relief and Bread for the World to meet the needs of the poor in the US and other countries. Christian education is offered for all ages each Sunday. In addition to our Sunday worship services, we offer a range of activities through the week, including small group opportunities for Bible study and fellowship. We welcome your interest in our congregation and invite you to make the Lutheran Church of Honolulu your church home. The church is located in Makiki, on the corner of Dominis and Punahou, across from Punahou School, and there is ample parking in the church lot, one block mauka (towards the mountains) of the church on Poki Street. Bus routes 4, 5, and 18 have stops near the church at the corner of Punahou and Wilder Avenue. The church is one block mauka (towards the mountains) of this intersection on Punahou Street.
