The fine LCH choir singing during morning worship. Founded in 1900 by German immigrants, the Lutheran Church of Honolulu (LCH) has evolved into a diverse, progressive congregation. We strive to be a living embodiment of God’s reign of inclusive love at home, in the local community, and across the globe. Christ’s message is proclaimed weekly through Word and Sacrament. Our worship blends the beauty and mystery of Christian liturgical tradition with music, drama, and the visual arts to proclaim God’s liberating, unselfish love. Our ministries reach far beyond the church walls. Through Social and Pastoral Care Ministries, we care for our parishioners and serve the homeless, the home bound, and those living with HIV/AIDS. As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we work with Lutheran World Relief and Bread for the World to meet the needs of the poor in the US and other countries. Christian Education is offered for all ages each Sunday. In addition to our Sunday services, we offer a range of activities through the week, including small group opportunities for Bible study and fellowship. We welcome your interest in our congregation and invite you to make the Lutheran Church of Honolulu your church home. The church is located in Makiki, on the corner of Dominis and Punahou, across from Punahou School, and there is ample parking in the church lot, one block mauka (towards the mountains) of the church on Poki Street. Bus routes 4, 5, and 18 have stops near the church at the corner of Punahou and Wilder Avenue. The church is one block mauka (towards the mountains) of this corner on Punahou Street.
