But I have this lantern, so if we turn it on, we will be able to see. In today's Gospel, SImon Peter's mother was sick, and Jesus healed her. When you's sick, it seems dark. Jesus healed her and brought light, and then it says she served them. Jesus lifts us up and heals us, and then Jesus sends us out to serve. God sent him to tell the people of Nineveh to repent, but he got on a boat and went the other way. So God sent a storm, and the sailors threw Jonah into the sea. And then God sent a big fish to swallow him and spit him up on the land. So Jonah went to Nineveh and called the people to repent. And they did. Now to repent means to turn around. The people of Nineveh repented, and so did God. And God did not destroy Nineveh. Jonah was mad about that, but that is a different story for another day. But we should remember that when God calls us to repent, we should turn around and return to God.</itunes:summary>

So, the next time you see a traffic cone, think of Martin Luther and his message.</itunes:summary>

So even though he was sad, he healed the people and taught them; and even though the disciples wanted to send the people away, Jesus fed them with just five loaves and two fish. Soon we will serve all the people here with just a little bread and wine. Your tummies may not be full, but we will all be full of God's love. <itunes:summary>A children's conversation by Pastor Jeff Lilley This Sunday Jesus is telling parables about the kingdom of God. When we say kingdom, we think about kings and castles and big stuff. But these parables are about little things like a mustard seed--a little seed that grows into a big bush. The kingdom of heaven starts out as something small, but it grows until it is huge. It's like God's love in you that grows to have a great big effect on the world.</itunes:summary>

It's the same with people. All people belong to God, and God loves everyone. Since we can't tell the difference, we should love and respect everyone.</itunes:summary>

We often talk about God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but those are only three of many ways to talk about God. We also call God Mother or Creator or Redeemer or Helper or Friend. God is all these and much more. The Trinity helps us think about God in many ways, but the most important idea is that God will be with you all forever.</itunes:summary>

Wind doesn't seem like much, but look at this empty balloon. Right now it isn't worth much, but if I blow wind into it, it become much more interesting. If I just tie it up, it will gradually deflate and not be good for anything again. But when I let go. It flies around and gives the gift of joy. It's the same with the spirit. It brings joy when we let it go.</itunes:summary>

It is still Christmas, and in today's Gospel, we heard of the Word in the beginning. We know that a new beginning starts with Jesus. Jesus came not just for Christmas Day but for all time. Christmas is always a part of who we are because God's gift of Jesus is always with us.</itunes:summary>

You say you are excited about your travels, presents, and many other things, but I'm most excited that "God with us" is coming. We sometimes forget what Christmas is all about, but I hope that every day between now and Christmas, you will think about "God with us."</itunes:summary>

In our Gospel, John asks if Jesus is the one, and Jesus tells him to look at the signs. I want you to look for the signs of Christmas, but I also want you to be signs of God's presence through kindness, love, and prayer.</itunes:summary>

Isaiah tells us about a branch from the root of Jesse. A few weeks ago, I found this stick and put it in a dirty coffee cup, and you can see the roots. Soon it will have branches. God made a new branch from the root of Jesse--Jesus the Messiah. God's love and justice grow like the branches outside my office. And you are also branches growing from God's love.</itunes:summary>

Blue is the color of hope, and we have hope because Jesus is coming. And we prepare by putting on Christ, or putting on love.</itunes:summary>
