What’s Happening...
As the church year comes to a close, congregations the world over observe All Saints’ Day, a day to remember and honor the departed. The Lutheran Church of Honolulu observes this tradition with two Hawaiian Bach premieres: J. S. Bach’s Mache dich, mein geist, bwv 115, along with Johann Ernst Bach’s Meine Seele erhebet den Herren (Magnificat). Motets of Schütz and Sermisy, and Bach’s mighty Fantasy & Fugue in C minor, bwv
537, round out the musical selections.
