What's Happening...
The feast of St. Michael and All Angels, also known as Michaelmas, has been a time of celebration for nearly one thousand years. Although not as common today, we still enjoy music from this popular sacred/secular celebration. Johann Sebastian Bach wrote five cantatas to mark the feast, and LCH proudly presents two of these triumphant works in this year’s Michaelmas Vespers. Alongside Bach, the service includes a Magnificat from the same decade by Czech composer Jan Dismas Zelenka. Join us to begin a new season of music with the LCH musicians and Bach Chamber Orchestra!
