LCH E-News—September 27, 2007

From the Pastor

Pastor Jeff LilleyI hope you get this! I had hoped to send this Enews at least twice a month. However, we have had some battles with our mail server thinking that this missive is SPAM. Of all the nerve! In any case, we hope this new “fix” will work and we can regularly connect our members with this medium. Things are really hopping around the congregation and I hope you are able to participate in the many offerings coming up in the near future. Worship has been lively at both services and I continue to be amazed at the beauty and reverence that are part of worship at LCH. On September 23rd, congregation members gathered after an abbreviated 8AM service to read through Setting 8 of Evangelical Lutheran Worship. We hope to add this liturgy to our worship offerings in the near future and are in the process of looking for appropriate musicians. This is an experiment in worship, not a decision for the ages! Come and worship the Lord and see what God might be up to in your life.

RRR—Reduce, Recycle, Reuse

Reduce, Recycle, Reuse logoLCH continues to improve our efforts to be responsible stewards of our earth. Dedicated recycling bins are located near the Courtyard Entrance to Isenberg Hall. You can’t miss them as they are bright blue and labeled with the type of container they recycle. Please be sure to recycle everything we use on the church campus. Also, please try to minimize the use of disposable plates etc. as much as possible. We have a wonderful setoff dishes and washing can be a fun fellowship event. If you must use disposable plates/flatware for a church event, please use the considerable stock we have in the kitchen. There is no need to go out and buy more. (At last count we have enough disposable stuff for the next 25 potlucks!)

Reading the texts:

The LCH Website is full of all kinds of cool stuff. Be sure to read the Heart Beat to learn more about the many features available to you. One of the newest items is that you can download the full text for the appointed readings directly from the website. How will you use it? Why should you care? This is a very convenient way to "look ahead" at the texts for Sunday. Study of the appointed texts before worship is a truly fruitful exercise!
