From Pastor Jeff

Pastor Jeff LilleyPolitical elections are always difficult and stressful times in our nation. We know that at the end of the process about half of voters will be disappointed that the candidate they rooted for was unsuccessful in their bid for the highest political office in our nation.

As election night came to a close, it was heartening to hear both candidates call for the people of this nation and our world to move forward toward the future in a spirit of cooperation. With faith leaders across the nation I pray that such cooperation will bear fruit of justice, reconciliation, peace, and a renewed commitment to end hunger and poverty.

But we cannot leave such important matters to the hands of politicians alone. Without the commitment of time, money, prayer and effort on the part of everyday citizens, the dreams of politicians and prophets are whispers in the wind. Without the strong backs and will of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhist, and persons of every faith, justice will remain an elusive and unrealizable dream.

The political race for the presidency may have come to an end. Our work, grounded in the love of God in Jesus Christ, continues.

WE MISS YOU!

Worship is the primary way God’s people gather together in mutual love and consolation. It is here that we sing, receive comfort, share laughter, receive forgiveness, and share the Eucharist. Without you worship is not truly complete. Fallen out of the habit, fall back in! Mad at the Pastor or tired of his sermons? Call and let’s talk. Someone sitting in your pew every time you come to worship? Get here earlier, or better yet, sit in their lap and thank them for being here. Children too loud for you to concentrate? Bring sticky candy. Church seem irrelevant? Maybe so, come and help us change! Don’t like 16th century music? Come to the 8:00 am service. Don’t like contemporary music? Come to the 10:30 worship. Don’t like to sing at all and prefer to sit in the dark? Come to Compline. Don’t have a ride? We’ll help you get here. Hate everyone and everything about the church? We still love you and want to share the love of Christ with you! Seriously, come join us and share the beauty of God’s love in worship this Sunday.
