LCH E-News Lite—April 2, 2009

From Pastor Jeff

Pastor Jeff LilleyLast night (Wednesday) many of us gathered for our last midweek Lenten service. Each week we have gathered for soup and salad, fellowship and worship. Members new and old joined in setting up the tables, preparing food, and leading us in worship. Our theme, “Waters of Hope...” took us from the beginning of creation, through Israel’s journey in the desert, right into the wedding at Cana. Each week we heard how God has used water to bring hope to a thirsty people. But more than anything, these times of eating and worship have brought us closer together as a congregation. We learned more about each other, we appreciate each other in new ways, and together, we have been preparing for the events of Holy Week and Easter. Thank you Carl Crosier for coordinating worship, to our legion of cantors and acolytes, to those who cooked, cleaned and set up each week, and for those who simply came to celebrate.

Our journey together continues in the coming week as share the stories of Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem, his death, and his resurrection. Holy week will find us waving palms, washing feet, carrying crosses, lighting candles, singing, praying, being somber, and rejoicing. Please plan to attend as many worship opportunities as possible this week so that your story becomes part of Christ’s story. To skip Holy Week services and arrive on Easter is like going to the movies but waiting until the last fifteen minutes of the film to enter the theater! Come and share this timeless event with those who love you, your LCH Ohana.

Peace,
Pastor Jeff
