LCH E-News—December 16, 2009From Pastor Jeff
But most of all, I want to share with you (in case you do not already know) that you have a wonderful Congregational Council leading the congregation. They are mission focused, committed to the life and health of our congregation, and genuinely engaged in their leadership. Our meetings are full of things to decide, but we always have time for devotions and prayer. We worry about money, but we are learning to trust God and our worshiping community to provide for the ministry to which the congregation is called. Sometimes we stumble, but we trust God to love us anyway. They find joy in serving, and I hope and pray that you see that that in their leadership. We owe you our thanks. In the same way, mahalo nui loa to the families of our council members who share their time to allow our council to their work! Thank you Olivia, Jim, Chris,Teresa, Anna, Larry, Jean-Paul, Brian, Peggy, Steve, and Mary. Pastor Jeff Invite Your Facebook Friends for Christmas WorshipThere’s no better way to celebrate the joy of Christmas than with the special worship services we enjoy during the Christmas Season. Each one is wonderful in a different way, and now there is an easy way to tell your friends about these exceptional worship experiences. Webmaster Bill Potter has created Facebook events for services on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. All you have to do is go to our LCH Facebook page at <http://www.facebook.com/pages/honolulu-hi/lutheran-church-of-honolulu/103278686394>, choose “Events,” and then select the service you would like to invite people to. Along the right side, under the picture, you’ll see a link that says “Invite People to Come.” Click that link, select the Facebook friends you want to invite to that service, add a personal message if you want, and press “Send Invitations.” It’s as simple as that. If you want to invite people who are not on Facebook, you can even include their email addresses on the same page where you select your Facebook friends. This is a great opportunity to tell others about LCH since we offer something for just about everyone. You can invite your friends witch children to the family service at 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve so they can enjoy our wonderful F.R.O.G.S. Choir and Chamber Orchestra. Invite your friends who love good music to the 11:00 p.m. service and the Bach cantata at 10:30. Invite folks who don’t like to drive at night to the Christmas Day service. Invite German speakers and music lovers to Vespers on New Year’s Day. And while you are on the LCH Facebook page, sign yourself up as a fan of LCH. When we get 100 fans, we can get a web address that’s easy to remember. HELP NEEDED THIS SATURDAYCan you help get our campus ready for Christmas? The floors in the nave (where we worship) and Isenberg Hall are in desperate need of stripping and polishing. Ben, our former custodian, has agreed to help with this project this Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. We need people to help move the preschool equipment into the courtyard, sweep, mop, and polish the floors. If time and volunteers permit, the nave floor will also get a fresh new coat. If you can help, please contact Kanani at lch@lchwelcome.org. Would you like the full week’s schedule at LCH?
