Haydn, Lord Nelson Mass

Haydn’s “Lord Nelson Mass” (Missa in angustiis) will be presented by the Lutheran Church of Honolulu Choir and Orchestra on August 21, Carl Crosier’s final Sunday as Cantor at LCH. Soloists include Vicki Gorman (formerly of Kane’ohe and now living in Houston), Laurie Rubin, Guy Merola, and Keane Ishii.

All four of the church’s choirs will participate in celebration of Carl Crosier’s 38 years as Cantor. Crosier was hired as organist of the church in 1972 when the parish had only a dozen choir members. Now nearly 70 people participate in the music program every week.

Other highlights will include Bach’s “Arioso,” played by gifted young cellist, Reid W., and Peter Hallock’s “To the supreme being” for men’s voices, oboe solo, strings, and organ. Organ music will be played by Katherine Crosier.

A reception will be held following the service in the courtyard. More information may be obtained by calling the church office at 941-2566.

Festival Compline Service

Sunday, August 14, 9:00 PM

The service will feature music for double men’s choir including the beautiful “Ave Maria” setting by Franz Biebl. As this will also be Carl Crosier’s final Compline Service, several former Compline choristers and supporters are returning for the service.

Compline at LCH was started by Carl on August 1, 1976, and has been sung each Sunday night since. Please join us for this special service.

Regular Worship Schedule Resumes

Just a reminder that our regular two Sunday morning worship schedule resumes on August 28th. Sunday morning services will return to 8:00 Holy Communion followed by 10:30 Choral Eucharist, with Compline at 9:00 PM.
