LCH E-News—December 8, 2011From Pastor JeffExciting DaysAs a child, I remember the two or three weeks leading up to Christmas as a time of incredible excitement and anticipation. School was in its last throes, and the parties, presents, and fun of Christmas Holidays were beginning to unfold. A constant each year was the Christmas Tree sale organized by our youth organization (Luther League). Hundreds of Christmas trees were set up on the front lawn ready to sell in benefit of our youth group. On the weekends the youth would spend all day and night selling trees and wreaths to the public. In the evening, we would light a fire to ward off the cold and tell stories to ward off the boredom. Nearly every person who came to buy a tree shared the same optimism, hope, and excitement of Christmas, even if they did not share the faith in Christ associated with the coming Nativity. Although I did not understand it at the time, sharing that preparatory time before Christmas with my church family was the perfect Advent activity. Sharing time, stories, laughter, and even hard work with people who loved me and loved God was “preparing a way for the Lord” in the Advent season. We are partnering with Aloha Harvest and Kawaiaha‘o Church’s Outreach programs in this season of giving. Please bring a donation of canned goods or non-perishiable food for those less fortunate than ourselves. Baskets will be available at the doors for your contributions.
The voices of our angelic youth will charm you into the holiday season.
Make an evening of it. Plan to enjoy the city lights display with your family following the concert.

Due to some much-needed maintenance, the Church parking lot will not be available December 18th. Please plan to park in the Poki Lot.
