Honu (turtle) graphicStewardship 2010—“Following Jesus”

October 25, 2009

Aloha Sisters and Brothers in Christ!

Jesus said, “I am the light for the world! Follow me and you won't be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life.” (John 8:12)

During the month of October, members and friends of LCH participated in a series of ‘ohana gatherings. where we share thoughts and experiences about becoming better disciples and following the light of Jesus. In these times of spirited discussions and personal reflections we explored our personal responses to God’s call for each of us. Everyone who participated in one of these gatherings went away more certain of our call to share our blessings and spread the light of Christ to the world.

As we seek to carry out the mission of the Lutheran Church of Honolulu—welcoming, worshipping, growing, serving—we ask you to make a pledge for 2010 to support this work. Please help to spread Christ's light and love in our city, state, country, and throughout the world. Pray about your calling and make a promise between yourself and God.

We have enclosed a pledge card for you to complete and bring to church with you. There will be a box for you to drop your pledge card in, and on Christ the King Sunday, November 22nd, we will give thanks for your pledges at each worship service.

(On the back of the pledge card are tables to help you grow in financial stewardship. We have also included a form for Electronic Funds Transfer if you would like to begin this method of contributing or increase your the amount of your pledge.)

Join us in worship each Sunday and let us come together to become stronger disciples and keep Jesus’ new commandment:

“You must love each other, just as I have loved you. If you love each other, everyone will know that you are my disciples.” (John13:34-35)

In Christ’s light,
Your Stewardship Committee
Pastor Jeff Lilley
