Abendmusiken Concerts 2013–2014 Tickets

Salt Lake Vocal Artists

The Salt Lake Vocal Artists will make the Hawai‘i debut on their return from touring Japan. Founded in 2010, SLVA is the professional touring ensemble within the multi-choir Salt Lake Choral Artists, one of America’s premiere choral organizations. In their first season, SLVA visited Spain’s Basque region earning first place awards in international competition. Since their debut, the ensemble has performed in Argentina, Italy, Bulgaria, and Turkey and has released two recordings: Live in Spain and Never a Brighter Star. SLVA is directed by Brady Allred.

The Stark Duo

Honolulu’s favorite violin/soprano duo, Darel and Georgine Stark, return to the Abendmusiken series for a matinee recital. This virtuosic couple have long been central members of the Abendmusiken Series (and LCH’s Vespers services with the Bach Chamber Orchestra) and this is a wonderful opportunity to hear their talents showcased. Andrew Shenton Organ Recitals

Musician Andrew Shenton is both performer and scholar. His scholastic achievements include several published books, numerous articles, esteemed awards, and direction of the sacred music program at Boston University. As a performer, he has played around Europe and the United States as both organist and pianist, and his work as a conductor is winning acclaim in New England. He joins us for Abendmusiken III and IV: a two-part concert series in celebration of the life and music of Benjamin Britten (1913–1976). The two, unique recitals feature a vast variety of music featuring organ, piano, choir, and soloists. Repertoire will include works of Britten alongside pieces by those who inspired him and those whom he inspired.
Tickets sales cover only a portion of the expenses for these musical events, and the Lutheran Church of Honolulu is not able to support them from its General Fund. We must rely on your generosity to make this season a reality. Please consider a donation in addition to your ticket purchase.
