The first Compline service at LCH was sung on Sunday, August 1, 1976. In August 2006, LCH remembered the 30th anniversary with a weekend of celebration. 30th Anniversary of Compline at LCH—August 6, 2006Saturday, August 5
Following the rehearsal, friends and family joined the choristers for a seven-course Chinese dinner at On On Restaurant. Following dinner, Carl Crosier passed out a list of all those who have sung at Compline over the years and gave special recognition to Dale Noble and Larry Nitz, both of whom had sung at the first Compline.

The introit was “God be in my head” by Henry Walford Davies, and the service music was from Edward C. Bairstow’s “Communion Service in E flat.” The anthems were Ego sum panis vivus (I am the bread of life) by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Ave verum corpus (Hail, true body) by Ludovico da Viadana.
Sunday, August 6—Pre-Compline Discussion and Compline
The anniversary service may have been the grandest Compline ever at LCH. The fifteen singers presented a variety of music: Psalms 4 and 134 (Peter Hallock), Te lucis ante terminum (To Thee before the close of day—Office Hymn—Mode VIII and Thomas Tallis), Nunc dimittis (Charles Wood), and two anthems by Jacob Handl: Adoramus te, Christe (We adore Thee, O Christ) and Salva nos Domine, vigilantes (Preserve us).
