Time after Pentecost • Lectionary 17—July 27, 2014

Preacher: Peggy Anderson
Summary: We all have our favorite things. Here are many different kinds of fruit, and you all will choose different ones because you have your own favorites. But God doesn’t play favorites. God loves everyone, and each one of us is God’s favorite.

Time after Pentecost • Lectionary 16—July 20, 2014

Preacher: Pastor Angela Freeman
Summary: Today we have Stitch with us. In the movie Lilo and Stitch he is a rascal, but in the end he becomes a good friend. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us that sometimes when we plant good seeds we also get weeds. Some people try to pull up the weeds and tear the plants, so our Gospel tells us to wait and give the seeds a chance to develop into good grain.

Time after Pentecost • Lectionary 15—July 13, 2014

Summary: In today’s Gospel, Jesus compares planting seeds to God’s word. We know all kinds of things can happen when we plant seeds. Sometimes they grow the way we expect, and sometimes other things happen. God plants the word in each of us, and it can grow in different ways, but in the end we have a the beautiful fragrance of God’s love.

Holy Trinity—June 15, 2014

Preacher: Pastor Angela Freeman
Summary: In today’s Gospel, we hear how Jesus sends the disciples to make disciples of all nations. At the recent Synod Assembly we gave kukui nut lei like this to every one, and we called them talk-story lei to encourage everyone to get to know each other through talking story and to build relationships. When you talk story, you build relationships and create an opportunity to share the Good News. This is a way for you and for each of us to answer Jesus’ call.
