Palm Sunday—March 26, 2015

Dramatic reading of Passion Gospel—no children’s conversation.

Lent V—March 22, 2015

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: Where do you see Jesus? Pastor and the kids walked around the church looking for Jesus. They peeked under cushions, around corners, even under the chalice veil (having decided Jesus must be there). Finally they looked out to the worshippers in the pew and found Jesus right there—the body of Christ. Like the Greeks in today’s Gospel who had come to see Jesus, we found Jesus in a new and unexpected way.

The children’s conversation was not recorded for technical reasons.

Lent IV—March 15, 2015

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: In our lesson from Numbers, the people are complaining in the desert, so God sends poisonous snakes, and many die. Then God has Moses put a bronze snake on a pole, and when people look at it, they are healed. My cross is like that bronze snake because it reminds me that Jesus was lifted up to save us. The cross reminds us all that even if the journey is hard, God is with us.

Lent III—March 8, 2015

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: Here I have an egg carton, so you might expect me to cook eggs for breakfast. But surprise; it’s empty. In today’s Gospel, Jesus was surprised to find people selling animals in the temple. He was angry, and he drove them out because the market place had become more important than worship. Knowing and loving God and each other is the key to our relationship with God, and we shouldn’t let anything get in the way of that.

Lent II—March 1, 2015

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: You each has a name, but do you know what it means? In today’s lesson we hear how God makes a promise and then changes the names of Abraham and Sarah. Those new names signified the promise. You each received a promise from God at your baptism and received a new name: Child of God.

Lent I—February 22, 2015

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: The first lesson told us about Noah and the flood. After the flood, God made a covenant with Noah and the world that God would never again destroy the world with water. The rainbow is a symbol of this covenant. There is another important covenant involving water, and that is your baptism, when God promised always to be with you.
