Musical Offerings for Children’s Sabbath

The children of LCH had prepared a number of musical offerings for the celebration of Children’s Sabbath on Sunday, October 15, but the earthquake in Kona that day forced a postponement. They were happy to be able to present their offerings on November 12.

Music during the prelude included “E String Concerto” (Sonja Edén), “Allegro” (Shinichi Suzuki), “Perpetual Motion in G major” (Suzuki, above), and “The Two Grenadiers” (Robert Schumann, right).

The F.R.O.G.S. (Families Revering Our God in Song) Choir and Chamber Ensemble provided the Alleluia Verse before the Gospel and an introduction to the children’s sermon.

One youth played “Alas! and Did My Savior Bleed” by Michael Burkhardt on the organ (above) and Muzio Clementi’s Sonatina, op. 36, no. 1, on the piano during communion.

Organist Joey Falla (right) performed the “Hornpipe” from Handel’s Water Music for the concluding organ voluntary.
