Palm/Passion Sunday—April 5, 2009

There was no children’s conversation this Sunday.

Lent V—March 29, 2009

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: If I put a papaya seed in the ground, it will grow into a plant with many papayas. How does that happen? God makes it happen. But if we keep the seed in our house, nothing happens. It’s like that with God’s love. It’s nice that God loves us, but if we plant that love by telling others, we can make it grow.

Lent IV—March 22, 2009

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: In today’s first lesson, the people of Israel were complaining and snakes bit them. So God had Moses put a bronze snake on a pole, and when they looked at the bronze snake, they would be saved. It’s like when my son was little and we gave him a whistle so he could call if he fell off our boat. When we know we need to be saved, we look to God, who is always there for us.

Lent III—March 15, 2009

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: In today’s first lesson, we heard about the Ten Commandments. They are all good rules for us, but the essence is that we should love God. The Ten Commandments keep us from doing things we shouldn’t do, but they also help us to do things we should do.

Lent II—March 8, 2009

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: In today’s Gospel, Jesus says, “Take up your cross and follow me.” Do you have a cross to carry around? That’s not what Jesus means. When you go to a sports match, you may hear people shouting “We’re number 1!” Jesus wants us to know God is number 1, and we should love and lift up others. It doesn’t matter what number we are because God loves us all.

Lent I—March 1, 2009

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: In today’s first lesson, we heard the story of Noah, who built a boat to save his family and all the animals from the flood. After the flood, people were afraid, and God put his rainbow in the sky as a sign of the promise that the earth would not be destroyed. How do we remember that God loves us? How about this song: “Jesus Loves Me,” which reminds us that God loves us and promises to be with us.
