Pentecost—May 19, 2013

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: We sang “Happy Birthday” because today is Pentecost, the birthday of the church. In the first reading, we heard how the Holy Spirit came and everyone heard God’s word in their own language. God has given each of you the Holy Spirit to be the church, which is everyone who received the Spirit.

Easter VII—May 12, 2013

Preacher: Pastor Angela Freeman
Summary: This picture shows children from many different cultures, and they all are loved by God. In today’s Gospel, Jesus prays that we all may be one. He doesn’t mean that we should be identical but that we are all cared for and loved equally by God. When I look at you, I see that you are all different too, and that is a reflection of the diversity of God’s creation.

Easter VI—May 5, 2013

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives the Holy Spirit. Here I have bird of paradise flower. If you saw the plant before the flower blossomed, you would never think it was beautiful. The Holy Spirit works that way; it helps the beauty has given you emerge from your plain appearance.

Easter V—April 28, 2013

Preacher: Pastor Angela Freeman
Summary: There are many amazing things in this world that catch our eyes, and because you are children, sometimes you will see things we adults don’t notice. All of these amazing parts of creation are examples of God’s love. This week, when you see something amazing, share it with the people you know.

Easter IV/eARTh Sunday (Earth Sunday and Faith & Arts Sunday)—April 21, 2013

Summary: In place of the Children’s Conversation, a mother and her children presented a skit based on the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden, with added emphasis on care for the Earth and creation.

Easter III—April 14, 2013

Preacher: Pastor Angela Freeman
Summary: Some of you may know another language and be able to say “I love you” in that language. It’s easy to say “I love you,” but it’s hard to show it. Maybe we can hug someone or do something for them like washing the dishes. My challenge for you today is to find a creative way to show someone that you love them.

Easter Sunday—March 31, 2013

Preacher: Pastor Angela Freeman
Summary: Because the weather always seems the same, it seems like it’s Christmas, but we know it’s Easter, so we have to find something we hid away at the beginning of Lent. Who can find the “Alleluia”? “Alleluia” reminds us that Jesus was raised because God loves us all. We can never doubt that fact.
