“Sophia’s Breath: Father, Son and Wholy Sumptuous” (oil painting) by Don Johnson.

Don writes, “My Doctrine of the Trinity invites a feminine, non-Caucasian essence into our concept of God. Sophia is the Greek translation of the Hebrew word for ‘wisdom.’ ... I have quoted Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, the renaissances’s perfect man, boxed, circled and cordoned, as a Christ figure. ... Not all thoughts about God are gentle; therefore, I have painted an angry face on the celibate Father symbol. ... Finally, I have a vague quote of Van Gogh’s ‘Starrry Night&rsquo and Pastor Jeff’s ‘Peek-a-Boo.’”
