Pr. Angela served as deacon and homilist for the service. Preaching on the Gospel story of the the feeding of the multitude with five loaves and two fishes, she noted the challenges of youth and campus ministry and outreach to our neighborhood and urged us to respond in prayer and using the gifts we have been given, rather than saying there are not enough resources or forming a committee.

A Big Crowd at IHS

We were lucky to have a large crew from LCH for the monthly dinner at IHS (the Institute from Human Services, Honolulu’s full-service homeless shelter) on July 20 because of the large number of guests who came to eat that night. Joining the regular crew of Peggy, Iise, Billie Jean, Marjan, and Bill were Ian, Petra, and Jim.

Folks had prepared the regular menu of rice, meatloaf, cole slaw, vegetables, fruit, and dessert in the afternoon. And they had counted out 200 plates. But the line kept coming, so they took from the extra stash of plates, and no one went away hungry.

New volunteers are always welcome to join in this fun ministry on the third Friday of every month. Speak to Jimmy Castro or any of the folks pictured above.
