We all are one in mission, we all are one in call,
our varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all.

This hymn text by Rusty Edwards proclaims the theme of our 2012 Stewardship focus as we pledge our support to the ongoing mission of the Lutheran Church of Honolulu. Our primary mission is to proclaim the Gospel to the world. Through our gifts of time, talent, and treasures, we are able to reach out and share the Good News of God’s love to our neighbors near and far. Standing on our traditions, we support a variety of ministries, including our vibrant music ministry with gratitude for Carl Crosier’s 38 years among us and stepping into the future with Miguel Felipe’s leadership. Our tradition of giving also extends into the community as we volunteer to prepare and serve meals at IHS and into the world as we raise funds for global organizations like Heifer International.

A single great commission compels us from above
to plan and work together that all may know Christ’s love.

This year we emphasize that Stewardship is our individual responsibility. The church of our parents and grandparents is now in our hands, and we are called to carry on the mission. LCH is preparing to reach out even more to our community by calling an associate pastor and improving our campus with a new parking lot and covered courtyard. You will be hearing more about this as we kick off our m1ssion campaign in the coming weeks.

We all are called to service, to witness in God’s name.

When we reach out to serve others, we strengthen our own community of believers by working toward a common goal of giving. Upholding our traditions of service is important to us, but we look forward to identifying new opportunities for outreach as well.

Our ministries are different, our purpose is the same:
to touch the lives of others with God’s surprising grace.

To bring our common purpose into clearer focus, we are planning a short series of temple talks to inspire you, LutherFest on October 29 to entertain you, communication via various media to inform you, and pledge cards to facilitate our individual commitments to God’s work and responsible stewardship.

Now let us be united, and let our song be heard.
Now let us be a vessel for God’s redeeming word.

This year, each of us can let our song be heard in two ways. You can make a pledge to support the mission of LCH through the 2012 budget. You are also invited to pledge over 24 months for our m1ssion campaign to call an associate pastor and make improvements to the parking lot and Hörmann Courtyard.

All of our gifts for 2012 and beyond will enable us to continue our valued traditions as well as create new traditions in proclaiming God’s love to the world!

We all are one in mission, we all are one in call,
our varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all.

This fall, we are kicking off two pledge drives simultaneously. Both pledge drives are designed to further LCH’s primary and central mission to proclaim and act upon the Word of God in our Honolulu community.

ONE MISSION—TWO CAMPAIGNS

FIRST, over the next several weeks, the Stewardship Committee will be asking for pledges to fund our church’s activities during the coming year. “We all are one in mission” is the theme for this year’s annual pledge campaign. We ask that you prayerfully consider your participation—whether you are pledging for the first time, maintaining your current pledge, or increasing your annual pledge. These pledges represent your continued support for the variety of ministries that are LCH. Your annual pledges will be dedicated on November 13, 2011. If you have any questions about the 2012 Pledge Drive, please see a member of the stewardship committee: Pam Buckley, Karen Fay, Bill Potter, or April Smith.

SECOND, beginning this Fall and for the next two years, our m1ssion campaign will be seeking pledges to support three specific projects which were approved in May 2011: hiring an associate pastor (budgeted for two years), putting a cover over the Hörmann Courtyard, and repaving the parking lot behind the church. Each of these projects already has enthusiastic supporters within our LCH family. Our m1ssion campaign hopes to translate that enthusiasm into one campaign totaling $250,000. These pledges will strengthen the organizational foundation of LCH so we can more effectively live out God’s mission in this time and place. Your two-year pledges will be dedicated on November 13, and additional pledges are welcome throughout the full two year of the m1ssion campaign. If you have any questions about the two-year m1ssion campaign, please see Fred Paul Benco or Josie Bidgood.

God bless you and mahalo!
