Reformation Sunday—October 29, 2017

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: Today is a very important day because it’s Reformation Sunday. We’ve been told that the Reformation is all about Martin Luther, but he’s only important because of what he did. He set us free from the wrath of God so we are free to love God and love our neighbors. That’s why we celebrate this day by wearing red.

We expect this children’s conversation to be available soon.

Time after Pentecost • Lectionary 29—October 22, 2017

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: In today’s Gospel, people thought they could trick Jesus by asking whether they should pay taxed to the emperor. Jesus said that since the emperor’s face was on the coin, they should pay taxes. So, here are some coins, and you’ll see George Washington’s face on them. But we believe that God made everything, so even these coins are really from God. We are stewards of the coins we have and everything else. So, you choose who you will follow.

Time after Pentecost • Lectionary 28—October 15, 2017

Preacher: Bishop Andrew Taylor
Summary: Today we’re going to play “Simon Says”; when I say, “Simon says,” you do it. Who do we follow in the church? Is it Pr. Jeff, or the Church Council, or me as bishop? They are all important, but we follow God, and God tells us to love God and to love our neighbor. All the others I mentioned want to help you do what God calls you to do.

Time after Pentecost • Lectionary 27—October 8, 2017

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: In today’s Gospel we have a story about a vineyard, and that story is based on the Song of the Vineyard in Isaiah. If you plant grapes, you expect sweet grapes, but the grapes in the song are sour wild grapes. The good news is that you are God’s good fruit to bring sweetness to the world.
