Nursery & Sunday School

It is a priority at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu to support young families and offer quality faith formation opportunities for our youngest members of the ‘ohana.

Nursery

Children and adults of all ages are welcomed and encouraged to participate fully in the whole life of the congregation including all of the worship and fellowship opportunities. We are also aware that once in a while children will need a rest from the busyness of worship and fellowship activities, so in pre-covid days, the church offered professional nursery care for children ages infant–4 years.

At present, no nursery care is provided, but as the congregation returns to in-person worship, we expect to resume offering nursery care. Watch the HeartBeat and weekly E-News for details.

HunterSunday School

Sunday School takes place ever Sunday morning during the program (school) year at 9:00 am, prior to worship at 10:00 am.

Children of all ages are encouraged to participate in All Ages Sunday School. Come explore the highlights of our Judeo-Christian tradition each Sunday in Isenberg Hall at 9:00 am for a story, discussion, and creative response. We will use the form and techniques of Godly Play, an approach that helps us understand how our history and practice weave together to create today’s church. Everyone is welcome from the youngest child to the oldest adult.

What is Godly Play, you ask? Godly Play is more than a program or a curriculum. Godly Play is a way of learning that offers children (and adults) the opportunity to live into the sacred stories of the Bible and the church. LCH has created a room designated for the story telling of Godly Play. In this room, children will be welcomed and loved, and they will have opportunities to playfully and creatively learn about God in Jesus.
