Restoring Creation—Renewing Christ’s Community

Dear Friends in Christ,

500th anniversary graphicOur stewardship theme for this program year is “Restoring Creation—Renewing Christ’s Community.” There is no calling that is any more important—or more daunting.

God entrusted the created world to our first ancestors and Christ entrusted the church into the care of his followers. But history shows that we have not been good stewards of these two treasures. Our world is polluted and our church is in need of reformation. The path ahead seems like it’s more than we can handle.

But we do not travel this path alone. God is with us, and God has planted the seed of faith within us. That little seed of faith has within it everything needed to restore creation and renew the church. We just need to let it grow.

Last summer’s “Called Forward Together in Christ” conversations have helped out layout plans for our congregation. As good stewards we participate in fleshing out those plans and putting them into practice, so we urge you all to watch for updates in The HeartBeat and to lend your energy to these endeavors.

Part of our growth is in the stewardship of our financial resources. We have begun planning for our 2017 budget to support the work of our congregation, so we ask everyone who is part of the LCH ‘ohana to complete a commitment card. This allows our leaders to plan responsibly for the programs that nourish our community and sustain us as we work outside the church.

Please bring your Commitment Card (PDF) back to church so they can be dedicated on Christ the King Sunday, November 20.

In Christ’s service,
