Ascension Sunday—May 29, 2022

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: If you’ve ever had to say good-bye to someone you really liked, you were probably sad. In today’s Gospel, Jesus has risen from the dead and been with his friends, and now he’s going away into heaven. The disciples are confused and sad, but they are also happy because Jesus is going home and yet will still be with them in the Holy Spirit. It’s almost like Jesus isn’t really leaving, so they rejoice. And we rejoice too.

Sixth Sunday of Easter—May 22, 2022

No children’s conversation this Sunday.

Fifth Sunday of Easter—May 15, 2022

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells the disciples to love one another, but sometimes that can be really hard. Today I’m wearing my work apron. I made it because I’m forgetful and loose things. So the apron has pockets for the things I need. Jesus gives us his love, and it helps us love each other.

Fourth Sunday of Easter—May 8, 2022

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: Today is Good Shepherd Sunday, but most of us in Hawai‘i have never seen a sheep; we don’t even have any pictures of sheep here at church. In Revelation, Jesus is pictured not as a king or warrior but as a lamb. Lambs are both helpless and loveable. Jesus is both a loveable lamb and the shepherd who loves and cares for the sheep.

We expect this children’s conversation to be available soon.

Third Sunday of Easter—May 1, 2022

Preacher: Pastor Bree Lloyd
Summary: During Easter we often hear about salvation. It can be confusing, but it’s really about healing and wholeness. Here I have some ti leaves; Hawaiians use them for healing. Sometimes we get hurt and feel torn up, like these ti leaves if I tear them. God is always drawing us back together and healing us. And that’s salvation.

We expect this children’s conversation to be available soon.

Second Sunday of Easter/Earth Day Sunday—April 24, 2022

Preacher: Pastor Bree Lloyd
Summary: In this “Sermon for the Child in All of Us,” Pastor Bree read two children’s books, Thank You, Earth and Moana the Honu Gets Help from Her Friends. The message of the first is that we give thanks for all that the earth gives us in its diversity and abundance. The second tell us that in response to our gratitude, we all work together, using our own talents and resources, to seve one another and the living world around us.

Summary: Easter is the day Jesus rose from the dead. We proclaim this as loudly as possible, so I want you to help me pull up this Easter banner as we say “Alleluia, Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed. Alleluia!”
