Transfiguration of Our Lord—February 11, 2024

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: Today is Transfiguration Sunday. Transfiguration is about change. We all change. Here are some photos of my grandkids, and you can see how they changed from one photo to the other. If I had photos of you, I’m sure we’d see change as well. Over the years, we also grow and change in our faith, and we change the ways we love each other, but God is always with us.

We expect to this children’s conversation to be available soon.

Third Sunday after Epiphany—January 21, 2024

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: You just followed my directions and acted out today’s Gospel lesson. Just like Jesus calling the disciples, you didn’t check people’s credentials; and when you ran out of room, you turned around, just like when Jesus asked people to repent. We hope we will follow Jesus and ask others to join you on the journey.

We expect this children’s conversation to be available soon.

Second Sunday after Epiphany/Martin Luther King, Jr., Day—January 14, 2024

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: Today we remember Martin Luther King, Jr., who worked for freedom for all while focusing particularly on freedom for Black people. These day there are lots of folks whose rights are denied, and many people of faith say that this is God’s will. Those people—like all of us can tend to do—see themselves as on the inside and others on the outside. Like Dr. King, who started out as a Baptist preacher, we know that we are all beloved children of God and that nothing can separate us from God’s love. May we work to make this reality for all.

We expect this children’s conversation to be available soon.

Epiphany of Our Lord (transferred)—January 7, 2024

Preacher: Pastor Jeff Lilley
Summary: We love the old crèche we have here at LCH, and this week we can see something different from before because the magi have joined the others around Jesus. In our Gospel, we know that they saw the star and asked King Herod where to find the new king. Herod was not a nice guy, and he wanted to destroy this potential rival, but the magi went home a different way. Sometimes, even though we have found Jesus, we let the old kings of the world continue in power. Let us follow the star and find a new way to bring God’s dominion on earth.

We expect this children’s conversation to be available soon.
