An Advent Procession

Sunday, December 1, 7:30 PM

Since 1975, the Lutheran Church of Honolulu’s Advent Procession has been a Honolulu tradition. This perennial favorite ushers in the Advent season with a service that melds music and word. This year, we share Hugo Distler’s choral masterwork: Die Weihnachtsgeschichte, Op. 10, or a Christmas History. The movements, each paired with a reading, wind through the verses of the famous Lo, how a Rose e’er blooming in gorgeous and intricate choral variations. Intermingled are hymns, carols, and the local premiere of James Lark’s ‘energetic and quirky’ setting from 2011 of the Magnificat, or Song of Mary. Please join us as we begin a new liturgical year, carry on a beloved Hawai‘i tradition, and look forward to the Christmas season ahead.

For more information, please call the Church Office (808-941-2566) weekdays, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, or email Dr. Miguel Felipe, director of music and liturgy at <miguel@lchwelcome.org>
