Stewards of God’s Love

I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and his love,
I love to tell the story, because I know it’s true;
It satisfies my longings as nothing else would do.

Dear Stewards of God’s Love,

Yes, indeed. You and I and all of us are stewards of God’s love!

We have been celebrating this theme all year long! It all begins with hearing and telling, hearing and telling, and hearing and telling yet again the “old, old story, of Jesus and his love.” This familiar song came to mind when we began thinking about this letter of gratitude. We on the Stewardship Team thank you for the many and various ways you have been good stewards of God’s love by telling the “old, old story” through the time you have committed to God’s work, the talents you used during that time, and the treasure you share through your regular offerings.

How truly blessed we are to have been told the “old, old story” by others and so have come to know the love of God. And, what a joy it is to pass on that legacy! Every Christmas we are reminded as we hear and tell the “old, old story” of God’s love coming down to earth in the person of Jesus. How truly blessed we are to hear it told—and to tell it ourselves—in so many different ways: through worship in the liturgy, readings, sermon and music; through Godly Play, Bible study, and Adult Forum; in music and art; as well as in living out our faith and sharing God’s love by caring for our neighbors near and far.

The October Stewardship Corner included statements of gratitude from each member of the Stewardship Team. By the time you receive this letter, you will have seen videos during worship telling more about blessings, gratitude, and our collective work as a congregation. We could not have done it without you or without God’s gracious presence among us.

We invite you to think on these things, perhaps even creating your own gratitude statements or counting the blessings you have experienced throughout the course of yet another challenging year. Having pondered these things in your heart, please consider expressing your gratitude for God’s boundless love and blessing by making a commitment to support God’s ministry through LCH in the year to come.

Please use the enclosed 2022 commitment card (PDF) to make a commitment of your treasure as well as your time and talents. You may wish to refer to the stewardship calculators available at www.lchwelcome.org/stew-calc to help you plan your financial commitment. Please use the enclosed Electronic Funds Transfers form (PDF) if you want to fulfill your commitment via electronic funds transfer from your bank account.

We ask that you return your commitment card by mail to the church office or scan and email it to commitment@lchwelcome.org before Sunday, November 21, when we will be dedicating them in worship.

With grateful hearts to you as you continue to tell the story of Jesus and his love,
Your Stewardship Team: Peggy Anderson, Pam Buckley, Willow Chang,
Phyllis Hormann, Barbara Poole-Street, and Bill Potter
