Summer Jazz Journey: ʻUkulele Around the World • Sunday, Aug. 17, at 7:00 pm
Join us for an unforgettable evening of live music at our upcoming jazz concert! On Sunday, August 17, don’t miss ʻUkulele Around the World, a global musical adventure led by Cynthia Lin on ʻukulele and vocals, Abe Lagrimas, Jr. on ʻukulele, and Shawn Conley on bass. This unique concert will showcase songs in a variety of languages, highlighting the ʻukulele’s versatility and charm across cultures.
This summer the LCH music program jump starts our “Music in Mission” ministry by collecting school supplies for children on O‘ahu at both Summer Jazz Journey concerts.We encourage you to donate items from the school supply list found on our summer jazz journey webpage.

19th Annual Faith and Arts Weekend • September 28–29
LCH’s annual celebration of Faith and Arts took place on the weekend on September 28 and 29. This is a time when members of the congregations recognize the many ways the arts enrich our lives and honor the artist of all ages who call LCH home.
The weekend began with performances Saturday evening. Works displayed Sunday morning represent a wide variety of media: needle craft, paintings, poetry, prose, photography, woodworking, and more. Participating artists included young children, working adults, and retirees. Some, like members of the Writers’ Workshop, meet regularly as a group, but many work at home and share as part of this annual event.

Faith and Arts Weekend • Saturday Evening and Sunday Morning, Sept. 28–29
Each year LCH celebrated the creativity of our ‘ohana with Faith and Arts Weekend. This event begins Saturday evening with a showcase of performing arts from spoken word to song and dance. This will be followed by a display of visual arts, crafts, and writing on Sunday morning. Everyone connected with LCH is welcome to participate with either newly-created works or past creations.

Lenten Wednesday Evenings • February 21 through March 20
Lenten Soup and Salad Suppers at 6:00 pm in the Hörmann Courtyard
Please join in this wonderful time of fellowship and prayer, beginning each Wednesday of Lent with a simple soup and salad supper. Suppers are served at 6:00 pm, prior to 7:00 pm Lenten services in the nave. A sign-up sheet will be available in the courtyard for contributions to each week’s meal and for help with set-up and clean-up. See Mary Jo Estes or call the LCH office for more information.
Evening Prayer: Healing and Wholeness through Our Senses
Join us mid-week during Lent as we share Holden Evening Prayer. The sung prayer service begins at 7:00 pm preceded by a soup-and-salad supper at 6:00 pm in the church courtyard. This year’s Lenten theme, Healing and Wholeness through Our Senses, builds on our Stewardship theme for this year.
All are welcomed and encouraged to share this intimate prayer service and supper with us as we journey, in brokenness and healing, through the Lenten season.
Lenten Wednesday Evening are February 21 and 28 and March 6, 13, and 20, beginning at 6:00 pm in the Hörmann Courtyard. All are welcome.

Faith and Arts Weekend, June 24 and 25
In June, LCH will celebrate its first ever Faith and Arts Weekend. We plan to showcase a variety of entertainment on Saturday evening, June 24th, followed by an exhibit of creative work from the congregation on Sunday morning, June 25th. If the spirit moves you to participate in the Saturday evening performance, please tell us what you would like to do that evening. And let us display your art, photography, written work, or craft item after the service on Sunday. If space is available, we will post your poem or short essay on bulletin boards in the Hörmann Courtyard. Here is what we need from you:
- As soon as possible: Express your willingness to participate in this event by contacting us at the email addresses below.
- By June 17th: Tell us what you would like to perform on Saturday, June 24th, and/or give us a description of your creative work so that we can make labels for the exhibit on June 25th. If you wish to type a longer explanation of your work for the exhibit, please do so and bring it with you when you deliver your items to LCH.
- By 5:00 pm on June 23rd: Deliver your creative item(s) to LCH where they will be held in a safe place until they are displayed on Sunday, June 25th. Otherwise give your items directly to us at any time between now and June 23rd.

New Year’s Day Vespers • Jan. 1 at 4:00 pm
LCH is taking a break from our traditional German service this year. Instead, join us for a short service of music and prayer in English and Hawaiian to celebrate and welcome the New Year.
The service will feature a selection of Hawaiian mele and traditional chants for the new year, as well as a newly-composed oli written for our service by Joseph Leong. Cellist Aris Doike and pianist Reid Ishikawa are joined by members of the LCH Choir and some special guests from Nā Wai Chamber Choir.

Circling Star Heavens: A Seasonal Presentation • Dec. 27, 7:30 pm
Join the LCH family for an evening devotional of art, music, poems, and prayers, featuring readers from the LCH Women’s Book Club and members of the LCH Choir. The event sums up of the themes of Advent and Christmas. To the traditions of the antiphons and the wreath, we add the richness of poetic voices and music and take a little quiet time to reflect on the meaning of these symbols of our faith.
